The All New 2012 Honda Civic at Brickell Honda

2012 Honda Civic Sneak-Peak Review

The 2012 Honda Civic is a celebration of its heritage of surpassing super-high mileage landmarks, combined with progressive features and superior affordability. Sticking to its original vision of a “Civic for all people,” the 2012 Civic and its diverse vehicle range include a wide selection of engine choices, including a sedan and a coupe with conventional gasoline models, two sporty "Si" performance versions, along with one hybrid and a natural gas alternative-fuel variant.

The collective depth of the 2012 Civic line offers a unique balance of fuel economy, low emissions and fun-to-drive performance unlike any other vehicle in the world. The planned ninth generation of the popular Civic has a sleeker and more athletic stance than the current model, said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda.

The Civic intends to capitalize mostly on the “younger” demographic, as it is currently planning an internet marketing pitch of the vehicle with young people. About 90,000 of Civics sold last year were to people under 35 years old.

According to www.autonews.com, “Honda's recent decision to delay the introduction of the new Civic has fueled rumors that the automaker scrapped work on the sedan and went back to the drawing board. However, a Honda spokesman said this was not the case. The delay held up the introduction of the new Civic by only three or four months, and the changes were made in response to market demand, the spokesman said.”

Along with enhanced fuel economy, the new line of 2012 Civics offers better performance, most notably the Civic Si. The Civic Si sedan and coupe models are equipped with a larger, more powerful 2.4-liter engine as well as a new 6-speed manual transmission. Even with the increase in horsepower, the Civic Si is targeted to achieve an EPA-estimated highway fuel economy of 31 mpg.

While it boasts its new sleek style and sophisticated features, the foundation for all Civic models stays true to its heritage of safety, reliability and efficiency.
