Brickell Motors Partners with Children’s Movement of Florida

Brickell Motors is excited to be part of the Children’s Movement of Florida dream prizes promotion!  Brickell Honda will be giving away a new Civic for the event.  Check out the video above for some of the other great prizes.

The Children’s Movement of Florida is a non-partisan movement whose purpose is to educate the public about children’s issues and make the needs of children the top priority of legislators.  It is a citizen-led movement comprised of a 28-member committee of leaders across the state of Florida, including business, civic and political leaders.

The movement reaches across party lines to unite the people in this cause, believing that “When you are dealing with children’s issues, there is no partisanship” (Roberto Martinez).  The movement was based on and evolved from the August 2008 campaign The Children’s Trust in Miami-Dade County, and launched in August 2010 through press conferences in Miami, Orlando, St. Petersburg and Tallahassee. 

Just after launching, the movement made headlines when it held “Milk Party” rallies across the state to start raising awareness of their issues and goals, and attracted more than 15,000 people.  The movement is funded by contributions, and while it does not call for any statewide tax increase, it advocates that children’s issues should receive a larger share of the current resources available.

The Children’s Movement has five major areas of interest in their 2011 legislative agenda: obtain quality healthcare for children; increase funding to voluntary pre-Kindergarten and fund process to produce highly qualified teachers; develop quality screening, diagnosis and treatment for special needs children; improve the quality mentoring programs; and educate and support parents.
