So it passed. Now we need to wait and see what the details are. As far as we know you can get a voucher for up to $4500 towards the purchase or lease of a new car. In order to qualify for the voucher you have to have owned your car for at least one year and it has to get less than 18 miles per gallon. You need to go to a dealership that is certified byt he government and they will process the $4500 voucher for you. It was initially thought that the program would roll out at the begining of July but it looks to have been pushed back until the end of July. So here is a little more info on the program. Your car cannot be older that 25 years old. When you turn the vehicle in the vehicle must be scrapped by the dealership. That means the money you get for the trade in is the voucher and not what the car is worth. So don't plan on trading in a car that is worth more than $4500 but if you have a car that is just getting you by this is a great program to get into a new car. Imagin getting $4500 for a car that is worth $500 or $1000. Especailly those individuals that owe money on their car and they owe more than what the car is worth this your get out of jail free card.
